Koans of the Body, Koans of our Lives: A Four-Day Retreat with Caverly Morgan and Suniti Dernovsek

  • Trout Lake Abbey 46 Stoller Road Trout Lake, WA, 98650 United States (map)

Join Caverly and Suniti for a unique retreat exploring movement, meditation, and the Dharma. We'll find inspiration in koans — paradoxical anecdote or riddles used in Zen Buddhism to provoke enlightenment.

Historically in Zen, traditional koans are offered to support students in awakening. In this retreat, we’ll see how our own bodies and lives provide the koan forms. Exploring koans of the body, we'll uncover the heart's inherent stability. We'll rest into the non-dual, compassionate nature of reality. Inquiring into the koans of our lives, we'll see how our direct, everyday experience can be the source of awakening.

This Retreat Includes:

·Movement instruction and practice
·Meditation instruction and practice
·Dharma talks daily
·Vibrant meals by Eatin’ Alive
·Time in nature
·Time for silence
·The support of conscious community

On this retreat, you'll learn diverse tools that strengthen your capacity to listen to — and be intimate with — internal and external landscapes. You'll learn embodied practices that include: ways of becoming totally still; transitions to resting postures; and expansive movements for entering the aliveness and inherent wisdom of the body and the universal mind.

Yoga students and teachers will learn new movement patterns and techniques. Meditators will benefit from the marriage of stillness with artful movement practices. Together, we'll unpack and explore the koans of our bodies and lives with Caverly and Suniti’s support and loving guidance. This retreat is a wonderful opportunity to master new practices, draw inspiration from community, and connect to nature.
